You
guys know about my love affair with the Christian Dior Crème De Rose lip balm,
right? If you don’t, you should. I am insanely in love with it. I have gone
through about 4 pots of the heavenly stuff, and my lips refuse to be happy
without it. Everything about it is perfect; the scent, the color (a soft, rose
pink), the packaging, and the consistency… I could use it for the rest of my
life and never get bored of it.
There
is, however, another high-end, rose-scented lip balm lurking out there in the world,
haunting me. The most coveted rose lip balm is not my beloved Christian Dior,
but instead a totally different one - the By Terry Baume de Rose. Oh, this
product is raved about from top beauty bloggers everywhere; everyone seems to love
it. I myself decided to cheat on my Dior love to try this out, thinking, “Well,
shucks. If everyone else says it’s the best then BY GOLLY! It’s probably THE
BEST!” So while visiting a Saks ages ago (around Christmas, I believe), I tried it
out at the counter… and I wasn’t impressed. To be honest, I probably would have
bought it anyway to give it a proper try, but seeing as it was Christmas time I
was spending a lot of money and decided it could wait.
Fast-forward
half a year and I’m shopping at a Space NK and see this little guy again. I
immediately went to try it, thinking, “This will be the day I fall in love with
ANOTHER lip balm!” (no need to mention that I really don’t need TWO
rose-scented lip balm loves…) And… yet again I was unmoved by this product. Maybe
I’ve hyped it up too much in my mind, and therefore it’s doomed to fail my
tests, but it just doesn’t come close to my Dior one.
So
there it is – the Holy Grail that wasn’t. For now at least.
Sad
times for By Terry. But goodness, ladies, (and gents), you HAVE to go try the
Christian Dior one. It’s seriously the best. *Hugs my lip balm and looks around
protectively for lip balm stealers*
P.S.
Excuse the stock photo – I don’t own this product so I am unable to properly
photograph it.
P.P.S.
If I ever come on this blog with an
adamant “I HEART this product now!!” it’s not that I am sponsored by them… it’s
that I have finally caved, given it a proper try, and finally saw the hype.
That time is just not right now.
Um... another P.S. I really want to try the "rose gold" version of the By Terry - that one looks gorgeous!
And lastly, while getting links for this post I came across two deals. If you want to go ahead and give the Christian Dior a go, Bloomingdales has a special where you get a free deluxe sample of their famous DiorShow Mascara with any Dior purchase. Link!
The second deal I found is on Sephora - If you are a VIB they have an amazing sample bag for free with any $35 purchase with code WELOVEVIBS. Plus you get the additional 3 regular samples. Not bad!
Okay... this was a long post. Sheesh. I'll hush now.
Great post! I need to try out the Dior version :)

I keep meaning to try the Creme De Rose but haven't yet. I really love the Josie Margan Argan Lip Treatment. It was a holy grail for me last winter and the only thing that kept my lips soft. I'm just not too crazy about the packaging. Its pretty, but not practical to tote in your purse. Definitely going to pick up the Dior.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on the deals at Bloomies and Sephora!

This sounds like a really nice product! :)

Oh my Lord. Why in God's name would you use an affiliate link on a product that you do not like? Why link it at all?
ReplyDeleteI have both!! I much prefer the by terry as an overnight lip treatment, whereas I wear the Dior one during the day. The by terry is thicker (and I think more luxurious) and more expensive, so saving it for nighttime actually works :)
ReplyDeleteI really didn't like by terry lip balm either :(

I love the Dior one, and even a L'occitane one that is more affordable. The By Terry one didn't impress me either.
ReplyDeleteI really want to try the Dior one since you love it so much!

What didn't you like about it? Was it not moisturizing enough?
ReplyDeleteI really want to try the Dior one, I've always felt the By Terry stuff is just overly hyped up, especially for the price.

I like the Dior lip balm. But I haven't tested it out too long to know if I love it or not. However, i do love La Mer's lip balm. That one is a really good one. lasted me about a year too, so it justifies the $50 price tag. The only tiff I have with it is that since it's La Mer with it's miracle broth, you have to emulsify it between your finger tips and pat on. Most days I got lazy and didnt do that, and it did the trick on my lips still. lol

ReplyDeleteI actually haven't heard about the By Terry, I think it might be because I'm from Denmark! I would love to try the Dior lipbalm since you have been talking about it for year ;)

Am also obsessed with the Dior Creme De Rose! I've never tried the By Terry balm, but hear that Sisley's is brilliant. Hmmm... Getting into trouble with that one. Haha. I have though picked up a few of the By Terry products with hyaluronic acid in them and am finding some to be quite brilliant on my skin. Have been itching to talk about them! Maybe this week....
ReplyDeleteAs always, am enjoying your posts. Thanks!

You talk about the CD Creme de Rose lip balm enough for me to want to go out and try it. Unfortunately, the Guam counters don't carry it. We have two counters (not including the Lotte Duty Free in the airport) that sell Christian Dior. I passed by the one in Macy's and thought I saw the little white disk but it was an apricot cuticle cream. I asked the CD ladies and they said they've never seen it before and they thought I was talking about an item from their seasonal collection. They basically thought I was crazy :(
ReplyDeleteI really really want to try this product, even after your review. it looks too pretty not to be amazing.

Elle! I just went to re-purchase the Dior Creme de Rose ( I live in Switzerland ) and the girls told me it was discontinued 3-4 months ago..... sad face.
