Review: Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

You know how everyone (especially girls) seems to have at least one spot on their body that they consider their “problem area”? Hello, my name is Elle and my under-eyes are my problem area. Blame it on genetics; blame it on lack of sleep… whatever the excuse, I have them, and they are bad. They age me, they make me self-conscious, and they make me look constantly “worn out”. Because of this, it probably comes as no surprise that I am always on the hunt for a good eye cream. I have tried tons of them, but one that was continually on my “to-try” list was the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. The reason it took me so long to try this was because it doesn’t have any anti-aging or de-puffing qualities to it; it’s just for hydration. Because my under-eyes are so bad, I always go for the eye creams that promise all sorts of magic, which is probably why I always ended up passing this by.

I finally decided to try it on the back of my hand at the store, and I fell in love. It’s super creamy, and quite thick, but it blends out to an almost watery consistency, that somehow seems to both de-puff and brighten my under-eye area. Now, I’m not promising that it’s not just placebo effect, especially because this eye cream isn’t necessarily supposed to do those things, but it’s definitely something that has kept me grabbing for this eye cream over all of my others for the last month.

I apply this morning and night, after my cleanser and toner and before my face moisturizer, and it has gotten to the point where I feel odd without it. Its thick, creamy, green goodness has become part of my cleansing ritual, and I miss it on the nights where I try other eye creams instead. If you are young and looking for something that’s purely hydrating without all the other mumbo-jumbo, this eye cream is definitely for you. If you are into the mumbo-jumbo (hi, self) then this eye cream is still probably for you. I love it.

This will be known hence-forth as my “favorite eye cream to use when I just want something that works, or else can’t be bothered to select a specialized eye cream for the night”. I highly recommend.

P.S. Kiehl's is currently doing a free shipping deal with promo "AUGSHIP" plus you get 3 samples with purchase. And if you order through Ebates you get 4% cash back! Those pennies add up! Click here - Link!

  7. Just bought this on your recommendation. I have the worst circles under my eyes and bags, as well. I'm hoping this will be the eye cream I've been searching for!

  8. Hi Elle! Hope all is going well. This doesn't really relate to this post but I have dry-combination skin which is also sensitive(so sort of like yours) and since I am only 14, I wear BB cream instead of foundation. After I thoroughly moisturize my skin, the bb cream ends up looking streaky and accentuates the dryness of my skin. Do you think it is the product that I am using, should I moisturize more, etc? Any suggestions would help. Thanks:)

  21. Oooh I'm feeling pretty tempted to try this eye cream out! My biggest insecurity is also my under eye area. I've tried the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye cream before which I enjoyed but was put off the Kiehl's eye cream because some people had said how thick it is and how it doesn't sink into the skin nicely. Think I will go try this out on the back of my hand to check out the texture, thanks for the review Elle :)

  25. OOH I have been looking for a good eye cream, I have slight dark circles and I get some serious puffiness in the morning from allergies. But on the odd day I do get very dry skin around my eyes, so I think I will test this one if I see it!

  34. Everyone seems to be talking about this eye cream and I'm really curious to try it, but I have a sample of another eye cream (Strivectin Wrinkle Concentrate) that my eyes have been doing quite well with. It's greatly reduced the appearance of my own under eye luggage, but I do miss having a thicker eye cream that *feels* more moisturizing. The Strivectin eye cream is more about deep down hydration and function than it is about surface moisture and luxury.

  42. Elle- as far as my (very) dark circles are concerned, i have never seen true results from any eye cream until i tried clinique all about eyes. There are two formulas (a richer version and a regular one). I use the regular and i will never use anything else! ( fyi i am a huge product junkie and rarely stick to one thing) but anyway.... next time you are at sephora you should pick up a sample. I think you would love it

  45. after I used this product a few times, I was definitely put off by this. I probably am the only one who doesn't like it at all. It actually darkened my undereye dark circles, and gave me a bit of milia. Maybe its just me, or maybe I have a faulty pot or something. But I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, because for that price, the product is definitely not worth it for me.
