A beauty pre-haul and deal I couldn't ignore

Free gift with purchase, free product samples, AND money back?! This is the way hauls should always be...

Earlier today I received an email from Beauty.com with information about a special gift with purchase. I get emails like this all the time because I'm signed up for all sorts of email deals, so normally I just ignore them, but this one caught my eye because it's quite a good gift. The thing about Beauty.com is that you get money back with their "Drugstore Dollars" deal, so whenever I can purchase something through them that I would purchase anyway I'm saving myself money. So this deal was, with any $40 purchase you receive a skincare trio consisting of a Wei East Deluxe Treatment Duo, an Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Ultra-premium day cream, and a DDF brightening cleanser. All three of these products seem promising, but it was the first that really grabbed my attention and made me want to purchase something. I saw this brand in Space NK and wanted to try something but didn't know what to test first, so this sample will be perfect for me to get a little taste of the brand. Plus, the other two products look fantastic too! I find that deluxe samples are the best way to test out new products; most of the time the little freebie samples aren't quite enough to know if you want to purchase a product in full size. So I decided to poke around on the site to see if there was a product that really caught my eye. I'm currently on vacation and to be quite honest wasn't in the mood to spend a lot of money, but after looking around the site I found two products that were definitely worthy of purchase.
I'll do reviews of these products once I receive them, but I thought I would go ahead and share what I picked out in case some of you want to take advantage of the promotion, which expires this Saturday. The first thing that went into my cart was the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask. This has been on my wish list for ages, and after reading multiple positive reviews my craving for this has only increased.  It's a hydrating mask that you can wear overnight to completely rejuvenate and plump your skin. I have only tried one overnight mask before, the Sisley Express Flower Gel mask, which is lovely but incredibly expensive, and as this is an affordable option I was very excited to give it a try. Plus, it's meant to smell amazing - fruity, I've heard? I'm literally bouncing up and down in excitement waiting for this to arrive.

The second product I added to my cart was much more expensive, but I talked myself into it based on a recommendation by Caroline Hirons. It's the Darphin Organic Aromatic Purifying Balm, and it sounds absolutely lovely. I have been quite intrigued by balms lately, but this one isn't a cleanser; it's a soothing treatment that you can use as a moisturizer. It is said to smell heavenly as well, and as one of Caroline Hirons "top 5 of all time" I knew I needed to try it. Ahh... soft, glowing skin will be mine! Soon.

After those were added to my cart I decided to give the site one last look, telling myself that I needn't spend anymore money, but sheepishly found two more inexpensive products that caught my attention long enough to make it into my cart. Meet two cleansing balms by Boots, the Boots Botanics Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm and the Boots No. 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Balm for Dry/Very Dry Skin. The first is 97% organic and is marketed as a deep-cleansing balm with shea butter, rosehip and jojoba oil to leave skin clean and soft. It's paraben-free and mineral oil-free. I'm assuming this cleanser comes with a cloth? The directions make me assume it does as it references "the cloth". A cleanser plus a cloth for under $9 is a great find, if it's any good. The second is meant to cleanse, comfort, and hydrate in one step. It's a gentle, non-drying balm that includes replenishing ceramides, glycerin, and cocoa butter for deep hydration and a soothing cleanse. This one is also mineral oil-free and doesn't make use of a cloth in it's directions; which means it would be especially nice for mornings or travel when you can't be bothered to do the whole routine.

I also was able to select 3 samples, and for the first time ever on a beauty site I had trouble deciding which to choose. Normally I find that there are one or two good options, and the rest aren't really worth trying (yes, I'm looking at your Sephora). After careful thinking I selected the Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Glow Pad (tanning and skincare in one? Count me in!), the Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu Serum (Vitamin C Packed!), and the Alterna Bamboo Shine Bamboo Smooth Trio (3 samples in 1... definitely worth it!).

Overall I feel that this haul is amazing... I was able to get lots of freebies that I actually want to try in addition to products that I really think I am going to love. Plus, I got free shipping AND $5.50 back in "Drugstore Dollars". I think this haul deserves an A+. I'm quite excited!

If you want to get the skincare trio freebie I talked about above, but don't know what to select, here are my favorite products that you can find on the site:

Stila in the Light Palette: a gorgeous eyeshadow palette, and one that I think is perfect for everyday wear. Let's put it this way... I'm on vacation currently, and these are the only eyeshadow products I brought with me.
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer: My favorite concealer. I use this both under my eyes and on any spots that need extra coverage. It's super creamy, and full coverage, but still manages to feel light. If you're wondering, I'm currently mixing Vanilla and Honey as I have a bit of a tan from being at the beach.
NARS Blush in Douceur: One of my all time favorite blushes, and one that doesn't get enough attention in the beauty world. If you are fair, this is definitely a blush to try out. If you're a fan of red lips - this blush is a must-have! It's the only one I use when I'm wearing a red or dark lip.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion: The darkest black pencil ever. The only one that competes with this, in my mind, is Feline Eye Kohl from MAC. But, you can't get samples and the gift trio by purchasing MAC ;)
Bliss Blood Orange and White Pepper Gift Set: This scent is to die for! If you like orange-scented things this is wonderful. I have a big tube of the body butter in this scent and it's heavenly... smells just like a just-peeled perfect orange. Nothing artificial, just pure wonderfulness.
John Masters Organics Sea Salt Spray with Lavender: I've used this in my hair today; it's the perfect sea salt spray for beach hair. I like that it has lavender in it too, it feels like it's softer than other sea salt sprays I've tried.
Talika Eye Therapy Eye Mask Patches: I brought some of these with me on vacation - they are so luxurious. They are little under-eye masks to give that area some extra love and focused attention. I keep purchasing these - I love them!

You can click here if you are interested in getting this gift with purchase. If you order anything please let me know what you got in a comment below! I love reading through suggestions and hauls... it's like doing more shopping vicariously through you guys!

  11. I am using the Origins mask since over a year and love it and would definitely always repurchase it. As a tip: try using the REN enzym mask again and use the Origins one right after. Pure bliss even for sensitive skins.

  13. Yeah, a lot of the freebies from Sephora tend to be perfumes or colognes (I usually go for a primer sample if they're offering one), but they just came out with a new set of 100 point rewards including a sample of the new YSL Babydoll mascara! Really nice that beauty.com gives you bucks back though! Definitely good to know!

  17. Thanks for sharing about Beauty.com...that's awesome that I can get cash back. I took advantage of the deal, so I purchased the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask (as my skin tends to be dry, so thanks for the recommendation) and the Darphin Refreshing Toner. I've been trying to find a new toner and thought I'd give this one a shot :) Have you found a toner that you love?

  19. Ohh! Please do a review of the 2 cleansing balms after you've tried it Elle! I'm a Caroline Hirons fan here too and have been searching for a good cleansing balm to purchase. I just bought Clarins exfoliating toner too and it has been working wonders. I might just get the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm in the end, but it is oh so hard to find, so I was love to hear what you think about the Boots cleansing Balms. :)
