| Imagine if we only dreamt in black and white? |
For almost 5 years now I have been creating beauty videos as “AllThatGlitters21”, and have loved every moment. I have fluttered around other parts of the Internet (like a little bird. Or a mouse), trying out various social media sites and starting up a few blogs (remember that old AllThatGlitters21 blogspot? It’s still up and running it you want to have a read), but the one thing that has stayed absolutely consistent is my YouTube channel. Now… don’t go and panic, I am NOT going to stop making videos, but over the last year or so I have really gotten into reading written blogs. There is something really calming about starting off my day with a cup of coffee and a catch up of my blog reading list, and it has become an essential part of my routine. The more I fell in love with reading blogs, the more I realized that I wanted to be a part of that community. Written blogs give a completely different feel than watching a video on the same content, especially if it’s accompanied by pretty pictures. It is more concise, can be more artsy, and can be read “on the go” (although you can watch videos “on the go” as well, I find it more difficult). Plus, I have always loved writing, and ending my day by writing up a post about something I love, whether it be a beauty product or something else entirely, seems very satisfying to me.
This comes at a perfect time as well because as many of you have noticed, ElleandBlair.com is currently down. We have not folded the website completely, but it is temporarily being rerouted to Blair’s YouTube channel while we redesign it. Being blog-less at the moment, I thought, “Why don’t I start a new project”? I’ve wanted to do this for a while, and it was actually one of my New Year’s Resolutions, so here it is.
Welcome to “Dreaming in Blush”, my new beauty blog. I’m sure this blog will grow and change with time, but for now it will be mostly beauty based with a sprinkle of fashion thrown in. As for the name, I read somewhere once that some people dream in color, while others only dream in black and white. I *think* I dream in color, because right when I wake up I feel as if I have a color on the edge of my brain, but then when I think about it harder it fades away and I can’t remember if it was color or black and white. Either way, it makes me feel like there is something a little magical about my dreams. Do you dream in color? If you could only dream in one color, what would it be? Mine would be blush… a soft pink, light as air, feminine color that lights up the room.

I think i dream in color..maybe it's the 1988's gemini thing! If I had to dream in one color, I'm sure it'd orange, even my favourite color is blue.

ReplyDeleteAbout dreaming, I guess I'm one of those people that sometimes dreams in color, sometimes in b/w....but sometimes, it's the combination of the two, and I find that those kind of dreams are most vivd, most active, most memorable, either good or bad.

Congratulations on the new blog. I'm sure it will do very well, since I for one like the way you write and how you put together things. Soft, romantic, blush coloured. What's not to like? One thing you forgot about the beauty of blogging instead of recording video: you can do so in your favourite pyjamas, cuddled up in bed with a big cup of tea and rolls on your hair and no one will be the wiser. ;)

I Love blogs, I loved your blog I think yours was one of the first ones I subscribed to too when I started college five years ago. I joined the elleandblair.com website but being closer to your age I found the audience of the site to be younger which is great just I found not for me. I'm glad your starting this new blog it will give room somewhere for just your thoughts and other comments as well.

So happy to know that you are still going to be blogging! I look forward to reading your posts. I, myself, love to write blog posts, and put my thoughts and advice into a post. I also find that sometimes reading a blog does help a lot more than watching a video. You can reread over parts easily, rather then having to try to rewind to to right point in the video. I also want to start a YouTube, and I will, but I always find that writing comes so much more easily to me, as I tend to forget what I'm saying when I try to film and find myself doing it over and over. With my blog I can write and write, and I have the ability to think for a moment, then continue.
