ReplyDeleteYou are the first comment! I would say to write about something you are passionate about, take your own photos (no stock photos!), and attempt to put yourself on a posting schedule. That's what I'm doing here on DIB! Also make youtube videos if you can - they really help people find your content!
DeleteI was so excited when you replied (im such a nerd!) thanks, I love how you've shortened it to DIB so cool ;)
Delete1st Commented, and I live in England, Dedication right here ;) :D Thanks so much
I'm from England too! Took me ages to work out what time 11am in LA would be in England (7pm) xxxxx to all fellow British dudettes out there!
Deletenoooooo im late, but this was my first question too. im also a new at blogging and one of the blogs that inspired me to do the same was your old blog with blair :)
DeleteWhat powder would you recommend for first time users? xx
ReplyDeleteI really have been loving my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, which you can get in Ulta or various drugstores. It's inexpensive and it works!
DeleteThankyou Elle, this has helped me lots! Will be sure to go and buy it now! xxx
DeleteWhat are your tips for up-and-coming beauty vloggers/bloggers?
ReplyDeleteI made my first video in 2008 (and eventually removed it), but I didn't stay consistent because I'm not comfortable in front of the camera.
If you aren't comfortable or happy in front of the camera then definitely stick to blogging. I find that people who start making videos, and then find it uncomfortable, never stick with it. The beautiful thing about blogging is that you can be an anonymous as you want to be! If you are passionate about beauty products then that's a great start for a blog - just let your personality shine through! It doesn't have to look like anyone else's beauty blog, you know?
DeletePlus I've found that a lot of people make really great "random" blogs by combining two things that aren't even connected, like beauty and bowling, or beauty and gardening. Just write about whatever you love!
ELLE!! have you always been naturally super tidy since you were young?:P
ReplyDeleteNO!!! hahaha no way... my mom would attest to that! Although actually, looking back I think it was because I didn't really have any organizational structure built for me. I had basic pieces of furniture but no way to really categorize or organize my stuff. As soon as I got older and learned how to organize, plus had the money to buy organizational pieces, I became obsessed with being tidy!!
DeleteBottom line: I think it all comes down to being organized!
omg you replied i'm in tears. CANT BREATHE
Deleteanywaysss, guess that means there COULD be some hope for me then hahahah:)
are going to do some glitteratures in the futur? btw Love your videos
ReplyDeleteyes!! I have a big stack of books that I need to do reviews on. I'm also playing around with the idea of doing some sort of written blog review series on books. What do you think?
Deletegreat idea!
Deletegreat, i loved all the books you recommended <3
DeleteA written blog review series on books would be a great idea! I'll be looking forward to your book reviews. I am looking for new books to read this summer and I love all the books that you recommend.
Deleteyay! you have the best taste in books!
DeleteHi Elle ! Love the new blog ! Just wondering before you go on holidays do you ever put on a tan ? also have you tried hydraluron ? Thanks Elle :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!! Never tried hydraluron, although I heard it is fantastic. As soon as I can get my hands on some I will do a review! And no to the tan - unless it is fake. I try to stay SPF-ed up to protect my skin!
DeleteWhat would you be doing right now if Youtube didn't exist?
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, I don't even know! Probably being a lawyer. I'm not sure how that would have turned out, actually. There's a part of me that thinks I would have found my way into blogging even if YouTube hadn't happened :) I just love it so much!
Deletei am 32 almost 33 am i too old to maybe start doing youtube i feel like you have to be young to do it
ReplyDeleteNo way! Do it! I don't really think there is an age limit - you will just appeal to viewers more your age, which isn't a bad thing!
DeleteThere are several people that I watch their videos on youtube that are in their 30's. If making youtube videos something you really I want to do, go for it!
DeleteJess don't worry about age. I'm 32 and will turn 33 this October and I don't look my age. People think I'm in my early 20's. I don't think people subscribe to you depending on your age. And I follow people on utube from different age groups.
DeleteI would have no clue how to work a camera or edit or all the fancy things! Thanks! :-)
DeleteOne of my favourite youtubers HotandFlashy is 50! (And I'm only 23) What matters is your content! :)
Deletei think being older can also mean you probably are more experienced with some things esp on those you are passionate about ^^ so its a good thing
DeleteWhat advice do you give to youtubers/bloggers who just can't seem to get an audience? I've been working for years and nadda.
ReplyDeleteI would say to definitely network with other youtubers/bloggers around your same level in audience members. You guys can help each other grow together! I know a lot of the baby youtubers do collab videos all the time to help each other grow, and it really works! Or, on a blog post, guest post on some other sites! If there is a site you love maybe reach out and see if you can guest post for them.
DeleteI have the same issue! I've been blogging for almost a year and a half and I only have 28 followers! I would love to cola with you like Elle said!
Deletestylesista.blogspot.com
Hi! i'm Aby from saudi arabia, What's your favorite snack?
ReplyDeleteoooh probably greek yogurt with granola. I'm obsessed!
Deletecan you do a makeup look for a job interview?
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely add it to my requests :) *writes it down*
DeleteThanks! say hi to mr P-Cone 4 me!
DeleteHow often will you upload videos on YouTube?xx
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure, I don't have a posting schedule right now. Plus, this blog is my new love! It has taken priority for a little bit, but I always end up going back to my first love, YouTube. I'll be back!
Deletewhat is your all time favorite mascara (that lasts all day)?
ReplyDeleteRight now, Maybelline the falsies, but I have lots of favorites! I also love L'oreal Telescopic
DeleteWhy did you start you tube? I love YOU and Pine cone!!!
ReplyDeleteI honestly just wanted to one day! I kinda said to myself, "why not?" and posted a video. And then I was immediately addicted and never really stopped!
DeleteThank you for replying! *fan girling*
DeleteMac brushes or Sigma? I have seen you use both, but which do you prefer as a brush line in it's entirety?
ReplyDeleteI haven't used Sigma enough to know it inside and out, so I will have to say MAC. Plus, I like that you can go and get MAC practically anywhere - almost every town has one.
DeleteThank you Elle! xx
DeleteHi Elle :) What books are you reading/loving right now? Can you please do a Glitterature soon, I need some summer reads! haha!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading "Incarceron", which is a book I bought ages ago and never got around to reading. It's a bit slow, so we will see. I definitely have a long list of glitteratures to do though!
DeleteThanks SO much for replying :) made my day! I just finished Tiger Lily, that you hauled while back. If you haven't read it yet, I really enjoyed it! Looking forward to seeing the new Glitteratures!
DeleteWhat advice would you give to someone who wants to gp further with their blogging and possibly start a youtube but is apprehnsious
ReplyDeleteI think commit as much time to it as you can, researching how to make the layout better and doing actual research on what you are writing about, and also take your own pictures. That's a big thing - I have read so many blogs that use only stock photos (and I used to use stock photos some on my old blog!) but real photos you take yourself are so much nicer! Just stick with it! If you love it it will be easy :)
DeleteThank you Elle!
DeleteWww.bethmayblogs.blogspot.co.uk
i really like this advice :) bec i appreciate blogs that takes time and effort to make their photos / layout appealing to readers. i like things that are visually creative :D
DeleteHow did people react when they first found out you were doing youtube?
ReplyDeleteNo one really knew what it meant actually, so no one really reacted. My roommates and family just kinda went "oh, ok." and that was it! Not a huge reaction, no one caught on that it was something big until it WAS something big, you know?
Deletewhat is your favorite little known beauty tip? you are awesome :)
ReplyDeleteVaseline on your heels before wear heels! That is, put vaseline on your feet-heels before wearing your shoe-heels. It prevents blisters and is fantastic!
DeleteI love you elle! My question: What kind of products would be great for a very natural look?
ReplyDeleteA tinted moisturizer or BB cream, with a cream eyeshadow (like a MAC paint pot or a Maybelline color tattoo) and a gloss on your lips. Add some mascara and you're done! Plus, if you pick a pink cream shadow you can double it as a cheek color!
DeleteThanks so much for responding I know you have a TON of comments. Love You!
DeleteWhat camera do you film videos with and do on the go vlogs with? and what was the name of your old blog? I would like to look at old posts!!
ReplyDeleteMy old blog is linked in my first post on here - go take a look! As far as my camera, I use a Canon Rebel T3i for my sit down videos and either my iphone or my canon vixia HF21 for my moving around videos.
DeleteWhat's the first high end product you ever bought and do you still love it?
ReplyDeletehmm let me think. Clinique was the first "department store" makeup I ever bought (my mom got it for me) but I think a Chanel moisturizer was the first ever "high-end" product I owned. I adored it! It was blue and smelled fantastic and I think I may want to go try it again! I still remember the scent :)
DeleteIf you were on a deserted island, and you could only have three things, what will they be? <3
ReplyDelete3 beauty things? or 3 things total? I'll answer both:
Delete3 beauty things: SPF, a hair tie/brush, shampoo/soap
3 random things: a cell phone, a friend, and a restaurant :)
If you could trade closets with any youtuber (excluding Blair) who would you choose?
ReplyDeletehmm... probably thatsheart. She always has the cutest outfits!
DeleteWhat product do you recommend for split ends ? Love you Elle
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a split end problem, so I don't use anything specifically for that, but as far as conditioning hair products I am obsessed with my S factor lusterizer! I did a post on it recently - go check it out! It's amazing!
DeleteWhat's your favourite thing about living in LA?
ReplyDeletethe weather! It's always so nice :) And the shopping, and the fact that my friends pretty much all live here!
DeleteWhat is the best way for a blogger/vlogger to grow her online audience?
ReplyDeleteThanks for answering, Elle!
I would say to write about something you are passionate about, take your own photos (no stock photos!), and attempt to put yourself on a posting schedule. That's what I'm doing here on DIB! Also make youtube videos if you can - they really help people find your content! Or you could collaborate with other people to "guest post" on their blogs.
DeleteHi Elle-belle!! :) Who is your celebrity icon? I love Miranda Kerr for fashion / beauty/ healthy living :)
ReplyDeleteooh me too!! I also like blake lively for fashion
DeleteI was going to say that you remind me of Blake Lively!! xx
DeleteDo you prefer beauty or fashion? And why?
ReplyDeleteloved your 'makeup MAYhem' series btw :)
beauty!! beauty will always be my first love and passion :) I don't know why really, I just lean towards it more!
DeleteI thought you would say that alright :) haha you do love your products ;)
Deletethanks for replying (:
Hey Elle! Will you be doing any Glit Clean or Lush reviews?! I loved them!!!
ReplyDeleteYes to both! I recently went to Lush so I need to film my haul, and as far as Glit Fit's - I am going to start doing something with that soon!
DeleteWill you still do YouTube now that you have this blog?
ReplyDeleteYes! Youtube will always be my first love with this stuff
DeleteThanks for replying!!
DeleteHow did you go about starting Glitzy Glam?
ReplyDeleteMy mom owned a little store, and I wanted to start selling keychains, so I came up with the idea to wholesale from her and run my own little business - Glitzy-Glam. Over time GG became so big that my mom ended up leaving her store to my aunt to run, and now she runs GG. My mom still owns her store, and we share ownership in GG now with Blair and my Aunt as well. Originally GG was just mine/Blair's, but when my mom starting working with it full time it became owned by all of us.
DeleteWhat an interesting story! Thanks for sharing :)
DeleteHow long do you workout for every day and how many days a week do you do it? Also, what are your favourite exercises to do e.g. running etc?
ReplyDeletehaha currently I'm not really working out, although I have been wanting to get back into it! Back when I did work out consistently I did about an hour of cardio 4-6 days a week. I like the elliptical, spinning, and dance classes!
DeleteWhy did you stop doing GlitFits and vlogs about staying healthy?
ReplyDeletebecause I fell off the healthy bandwagon! I'm actually going to start it back up though - I'm getting back into it
DeleteCant wait. I love your healthy snack suggestions....
DeleteYay! I loved the Glit Fit videos!
DeleteWowzers I'm so glad to hear that, I loved those videos! It kept me going aswell, to see you be all healthy made me wanna stick to my healthy way of living more too :) so great news, thanks!
DeleteI have acne scaring/pigmentation what would you suggest for getting rid of it. Please help elle
ReplyDeleteStart using a gentle peel on your face every night! I adore the Cane & Austin pads, and I am actually going to be doing a review on them tomorrow! Or you can even use a brightening toner, like the Clarins one :) It helps so much!
DeleteThank you :-)
DeleteAre you comming to IMATS in London this year :)?
ReplyDeleteI wish! But no... sadly I am too busy. I wish I could come out there! Maybe one day :)
DeleteWhat is your fave book of all time? I love your book hauls and reviews! You should def do more of them when you get the chance! :P
ReplyDeleteThe Harry Potter series! And yes, I am going to start doing those again. So many people miss them!
DeleteWoo hoo since you wrote a new book is there going to be a book signing again?
ReplyDeleteI think so!! Hopefully!
DeleteCool, I like your blog a lot, really entertaining and unique :D
DeleteIn your opinion, what is the best dry shampoo for blond hair?
ReplyDeleteI like the TIGI Rockoholic dirty secrets dry shampoo, but try to get it on a sale! It's kinda pricey if not.
DeleteThanks so much! I'll try it out.
DeleteI don't know about dry shampoo but a really good actual shampoo for blonde hair is John Freida Sheer Blonde collection!:) I use it, i'm not blonde, but it lightens my hair a bit.
DeleteThanks! I'm actually in the market for a new shampoo so that's perfect!
Deleteooh I can't do that shampoo - it breaks my face out and dries out my scalp!!
Deleteooh! i DON'T KNOW IT'S ABSOLUTELY PERFECT FOR ME!
DeleteI have been using Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Shampoo and Conditioner for the past few years but figured that it's time for a change. I want to find some that'll prevent breakage and keep my hair voluminous and bright.
DeleteThat shampoo also worked really really well for me! But I used the purple one....Hydralicious collection!
DeleteAnother great one is loreal evercreme nourishing system. Great Stuff!
Good high end product eye cream, and concealer for dark circles ? :)
ReplyDeletefor concealer, the NARS radiant creamy concealer is the BEST. As far as an eye cream... I'm still searching, but I am liking the Yes to Grapefruit dark circle corrector so far.
Deletewhat shampoo/conditioner are you using right now? (:
ReplyDeleteThe S factor smoothing shampoo and conditioner - they are amazing!

Do you have any tips? I want to feel confident because my skin makes me feel insecure! :(

Lots of love xo

Hello Elle
ReplyDeleteFirst I just want to say how addicted I am to you and your videos, and how happy I am that you started this lovely blog!
I live in England and will be starting High School in September and I am really worried about making new friends, because I am very shy.
What good conversation starters do you have for meeting new friends?
How did you deal with having lots of older people around you at school?
Were you ever bullied?
How much makeup should I wear?
Thankyou so much and I hope you can answer my question!
Hi Elle,
ReplyDeletefirst of all: a lots of hugs and kisses from the sunny Germany and of course a biiig kiss for Pineconito.
My question: did you use the REN Glycolactic Mask and it didn´t work for you or am i wrong?
Which one would you recommend though?
Aaaaand, last but not least. What do you think of a swap? ;-) Sounds good huh? ;-)
Bye,
Dijana
Hello Elle,
ReplyDeleteWhat are the qualities you look for in a boy?
Courtney and Tucker (my dog)
Many kisses! Any tips for growing out your hair? Yours is such a lovely length!
ReplyDeleteI love your videos a lot and I'm always excited when I see a new one in my subscription feed, so I'm super excited about this new blog! Is this little "series" going to be every Tuesday?
ReplyDeleteAnd are you going to keep doing Glitteratures? Those are one of my favorite videos from you. <3

ReplyDeleteIt's closed guys! That was 1 hr
ReplyDeleteI had about 15 questions to ask you, but after reading through the comments, I no longer have any. I'm a little (a lot, actually) late to the party, but I just wanted to recommend a book to you!
ReplyDeleteBefore I Go To Sleep - S.J. Watson
Hands down, one of the best books I've ever read, and quite possibly the best debut book I've ever read. It is incredible, intense, and will leave you on your seat the entire time.
Happy reading, and I love your blog :)
