Laura Mercier Soufflé Body Crème Review

For someone with super dry skin, I am the worst at remembering to moisturize my body consistently. Body lotion is up there with using a heat-protectant and sunscreen; I just tend to forget (although I am working on both the heat-protectant and the sunscreen… baby steps). I never forget to hydrate my face, lips, hands, or feet; it’s just the rest of my body that gets ignored. This might be due to the fact that whenever I get out of a bath or shower I am freezing and immediately want to get dressed, and then once I am dressed I don’t think about slathering a body lotion all over me. Plus, some body butters are too thick and hard to absorb, while most lotions aren’t hydrating enough for me to bother using. Plus, I tend to be fickle with scents. Unless I find something that I absolutely adore (hello, Victoria’s Secret Pure Seduction body wash) I’m just not going to use it.

I recently picked up the Laura Mercier Soufflé Body Crème after hearing Tanya Burr recommend it in several of her favorites videos. After texting her to ask her which scent she liked best, I went to the store armed with a list and a decision to make; she had told me to try either the Almond Coconut or the Fresh Fig. After smelling all of them at the counter (several times), I was torn between Almond Coconut, Fresh Fig, and another option (just what I needed!), Crème Brûlée. They also had two other scents, Crème de Pistache, which was okay, and Ambre Vanillé, which I didn’t care for at all. I ended up taking Crème Brûlée home, after asking 20 opinions and taking way longer than acceptable to choose a body lotion.

And… I’m in love. This scent was inspired by Laura’s French upbringing, of the aura and aroma of the French patisserie. It has notes of warm caramel, spun sugar, and French vanilla bean, which blend to create a delicious and warm fragrance without being overwhelming. The consistency is ultra-whipped, super soft, but not greasy.

It sinks right into my skin, and feels so luxurious that I am sure I will use this every day until I use it all up. It just looks at me and calmly says, "I am a holy grail. Where have you been?" This soufflé has vitamins a, c, and e for nourishment, shea butter for moisturizing, and a ton of other good-for-your-skin ingredients.

My overall thoughts?
I love it. It smells fantastic, it absorbs quickly, and it's super hydrating. Plus, the packaging is luxurious and looks very chic beside my tub. I like to use this right after I have stepped out of the tub or shower, while my skin is still damp, because I find that this locks in the moisture and I end up using less of the product. It's a bit pricey, but it will be something that I repurchase. It's heaven!

A bonus? Guys like this scent.

  1. I am so much like you in that I always forget to moisturize. I always think about it before bed, but by then I just want to curl up in the sheets and head to sleep. I also hate the feel of my skin slathered with lotion on it touching my sheets! Though, I really like your tip about putting it on while your skin is still damp so it will lock in the moisture. I will have to move my moisturizer, and try this! Thank you.
I also have the hardest time picking scents, but from the sounds of it you picked a winner! :)

  6. I hate to say it but typing in all those ingredients will get old real quick especially because companies change the ingredients over time. With that said, this product is loaded with parabens. Ugh!

  8. Elle, you need to pick up the coconut & almond scent. It's amazing! Me and my mother both wear it and you honestly don't even need perfume with it. I don't think I've ever worn it and NOT had someone come up to me to ask what perfume I'm wearing.

  14. I'm like you, Elle I have dry skin also, and am just finally getting into the habit of putting lotion on after showering. I like the idea of body butters but never found a non-greasy one that I like. I recently tried 3 body butters from Pacifica and they were fantastic. Their formula is vegan so it has all that good for you skin stuff too! I like fruity scents so I recommend hawaiian ruby guava, Brazilian mango grapefruit, tuscan blood orange. They are light, non-overpowering scents.

  29. Crazy!
I was at Bloomingdale's yesterday, went up and smelled this and was like, wow that smells good! I had never heard of them before! Anywho, I love your blog and I love your videos too! I have a blog and I love reading them, which is what inspired me to create my own. Maybe you (or whoever's reading!) could check it out?

Anyways, I would love if you reviewed that Estee Lauder jelly blush! And maybe you could compare it to different cream/jelly formulas? Like the Maybelline ones or Twist up ones? And how do you apply, etc. That would be great!

    Thanks <3

  31. I have the absolute driest skin! I'm a competitive swimmer and the chlorine is just awful so I really want to invest in a good body butter. I also saw Tanya Burr recommend this along with a few other reviews and I'm pretty much convinced at this point! I just want to go and pick out a scent haha. I'm sad to hear you didn't like the Ambre Vanilla because I normally like Amber scents but I'll probably end up with Creme Brulee as well. :)
    Very helpful review!

  48. Elle,

You may want to try Olay's "in shower" body lotion, I hate how lotion feels on my hands so this lotion you put on in the shower and wash it off (oddly enough) and literally when you step out of the shower your entire body is lotion-y! I can't find it at drugstores, but target has it, usually it is in the shower gel section NOT the lotion section. It smells good enough but its amazing how moisturized you feel all day.

It's also a great time saver because you can get it all done in the shower at one time. I LOVE this blog btw, so beautiful!
